  • Europe Day is celebrated on 9 May in honour of the Schuman Declaration.
  • EU institutions open their doors to citizens and organise activities to commemorate this date.
  • CirCoAX by CircularInnoBooster celebrates this date as a project made possible by the COSME programme of the European Union.

Brussels, 06.05.2021- 9 May is Europe Day. It celebrates peace and unity on the continent. This commemoration coincides with the anniversary of the historic Schuman declaration, the French foreign minister in the 1950s, who set out his idea of a new form of political cooperation that would make war between European nations unthinkable in a speech in Paris in 1950.

The aim was to create a European institution to pool and manage coal and steel production. A year later, the treaty creating such an institution was signed. Schuman’s proposal is thus considered the beginning of what is today the European Union.

To celebrate this day, the institutions of the European Union open their doors to citizens in Brussels and Strasbourg at the beginning of May. EU representations in Europe and around the world organise a variety of activities and events for all ages. Every year thousands of people attend visits, debates, concerts, and other events to celebrate the day and raise awareness of the EU.

The COSME project CirCoAX by CircularInnoBooster commemorates this significant date as a milestone for a European community that has achieved numerous advances over the years. In this sense, CirCoAX wants to celebrate the work of the European Union in promoting and funding talent and innovation to build a better future, through international and interregional cross-border cooperation.

In support of these values, our project aims to create a common space for European fashion and textile SMEs and startups to scale their businesses and establish successful, circular, regenerative, and sustainable initiatives. Through the CirCoAX accelerator, we will offer both technical and financial assistance, as well as mentoring to these entrepreneurs. The accelerator will also allow us to share the long experience of some of our partners, more established entities in the fashion and sustainable textile sectors so that synergies can be created and a platform for sharing best practices can be created.

CirCoAX by CircularInnoBooster is made possible thanks to the European Union, which co-finances 75% through its COSME programme by the European Commission.

Europe adds up. For this reason, we also work to create synergies with the other COSME projects and other European projects, as well as different associations and public and private entities that share, like us, the objective of a sustainable Europe.

For a united Europe, Happy Europe Day!
