Nextextile EU: transforming the textil and fashion industries into a circular economy model

The fashion and textile industry employs around five million people directly in Europe. However, a large part of the garments consumed is imported from countries outside the EU. The European Union is committed to strengthening this industry, generating quality employment and transforming the sector under the principles of sustainability and the circular economy.

In addition to initiatives such as the New Circular Economy Action Plan, the European Union supports and finances numerous innovative projects along these lines. Thanks to programmes such as COSME, of EISMEA (European Innovation Council and SME Executive Agency), they promote the possibility of creating synergies between different actors to pool talent.

In this event, the four COSME projects approved in the last call for «circular fashion», already underway, will present their progress and share their achievements to date. European representatives and other experts from the sector are also invited to this event.
